CIOB Chartered Membership

CIOB Chartered Membership (MCIOB) is equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree, and Chartered Fellowship (FCIOB) is equal to a Master’s Degree.

As a Chartered Member of CIOB, you will be a part of the world’s largest and most influential professional authority for construction management and leadership, with almost 50,000 members in more than 100 countries.

How to join and attain Chartership:

1.   Check your eligibility:

To be eligible to join, the authority takes many factors into account. These factors are professional experience, membership with other professional bodies, education and the like. You should visit the official website and see the Become a Member page to find what you need to become a member. If you don’t currently fulfill the eligibility requirements for Chartered Membership or Fellowship, the authority has a tailored pathway prepared to help you reach your full potential and unlock career opportunities.

2.   Register online now:

The first step is to create an account on the online portal. When you have done this, you can complete CIOB’s Pathway Finder and start your journey to Chartered Membership or Fellowship.

3.   Submit your application:

You must upload an up-to-date copy of your resume and any related qualifications. When you submit your application and pay the appropriate fees, it will be assessed and verified, usually within 14 working days. You will first join one of CIOB’s Pathways and a Non-Chartered membership grade of Applicant or Student.

4.   Find your pathway to Membership:

When your application has been reviewed, the authority will provide you with further guidance on the next steps for Chartered Membership or Fellowship. If you need to take up additional study or qualifications, the authority will offer you more information to decide the most efficient way to progress forward.

5.   Professional Review or Fellowship Assessment:

Professional Review:

It is the last stage before attaining Chartered Membership. When you are confirmed to be eligible for the CIOB Professional review, you should start working on it. This assessment demonstrates your skills, knowledge and experience in major areas of occupational, professional and managerial competence. The authority will help you with your application.  Help is available in various ways to fulfill your individual requirements.

Fellowship Assessment:

Those who have extensive industry experience at a senior level can apply directly for CIOB Fellowship (FCIOB) title, which is the highest Chartered grade or choose to upgrade as they progress within their career.

You will get support and a workshop to help develop your written fellowship assessment and Panel review. It is the final stage before attaining Chartered Fellowship.

Having known this, let’s know about the CIOB Student grade.

Student grade:

Student membership is an entry point to membership, which is for those who are studying with the CIOB or in education. This grade doesn’t offer any entitlement to post-nominal letters or designations. However, by moving through the most appropriate pathway to membership, you can gain your Chartered Membership and have all the benefits coming with being MCIOB.

Student membership provides its holders instant access to a wide range of resources that will support their transition to a valuable career.
