VETASSESS Industry Labour Agreement Required Documents

A VETASSESS Industry Labour Agreement is for an Australian employer who is looking at sponsoring skilled and semi-skilled overseas workers under an industry-specific labour agreement, where appropriately eligible Australian workers are not available.

VETASSESS is the skills assessment authority for specific occupations for these Industry Labour Agreements:

Restaurant Industry Labour Agreement (RILA)

Horticulture Industry Labour Agreement (HILA)

Required documents:

All documents must be high-quality colour copies of the original documentation. If not English, you need to submit copies of the original documents as well as the English translations that are made by a registered translation service.

Necessary information: Employment and qualification requirements vary across occupations under Industry Labour Agreement (ILA). Therefore, you should hire a VETASSESS skill assessment competency report expert to know the assessment criteria for occupation before you begin your online application.

1.   Application fee:

You need to pay the application fee when you submit your application. You should take reference from the Fees and Payment for Application price list.

The application fees include GST if you have an Australian resident for tax reasons. To know more about this, you should have a look at the Australian Taxation Office website for information about tax residency.

2.   Photograph:

You need to provide the VETASSESS authority with one recent passport-sized colour photo. This photo must be no more than six months old and of good quality. Remember that self-taken photos are not allowed.

3.   Proof of identity:

As evidence of your identity, you need to provide at least one form of primary document and two others from the given list below:

A minimum of one of the following primary documents:

Passport bio page

Birth Certificate

and

A minimum of one or more secondary documents

Acceptable secondary forms of identification may include, but are not limited to:

Driving licence

National ID

Social security card

Student identity card

Marriage certificate

Australian visa

Make sure that:

A minimum of one of your ID documents with your photo, and

At least one of your ID documents with your full name and date of birth

You also need to read and sign the declaration on the application form to affirm that the information you gave is correct and true, and to acknowledge that you understand how your personal information will be used by VETASSESS

If having nominated an agent representative to act on behalf of you, their name, signature and date of signing must be included on your signed declaration form.

4.   Name change evidence:

If applicable, proof of name change must be given to address any naming inconsistencies in the submitted documents. It is to support your identity.

5.   Qualification proof:

Qualification proof includes your qualification award certificate that is accompanied by academic transcripts.

Award certificate:

The award certificate is the official document that confirms the completion of an award course of study. If you have not yet got your qualification award certificate, a provisional award certificate that is issued by the awarding organization or an official statement of completion that is issued by the registrar’s department of the awarding institution will be acceptable.

Academic Transcript:

Give VETASSESS your complete academic transcript. Transcripts are the official records from the institution mentioning the courses/units of study as well as the final marks/grades attained as a part of your academic qualification. If you attended a college that is affiliated with the awarding institution, the award certificate needs to be issued by the awarding institution that is allowed to award the qualifications.

If your transcripts don’t offer sufficient information about the units of study taken on, provide extra evidence like a course syllabus to clarify this. You can also detail major projects and other major features of your studies in your resume.

Employment proof:

You need to provide VETASSESS with the necessary employment evidence for each employment position given in your formal skills assessment application.

Statement of service: Hire a VETASSESS expert to know more about this.

A Statement of Service is a written statement given by your employer confirming your employment on official letterhead.  Official letterheads need to include the organization’s full address details, email, telephone and website addresses. The content of the letter has to be signed by your direct supervisor or the manager of the human resources department.

The Statement of Service needs to include the below-given things:

Issuance date for the Statement of Service

The company letterhead

The working hours per week

Your full name

The exact period of your employment in each position you had

Your official position title(s) you had at the organization

The salary you earned

Description of your main duties for each position held

Complete name, position title, official contact details and signature of the person who has written the Statement of Service, references from workmates at the same level or below will be unacceptable. Remember that your referee may be reached for extra information.

Besides that, some employment proof documents will also be required. So, contact an expert to know more about them.

Resume:

If applying for a formal skills assessment, VETASSESS encourages you to submit a resume as it may benefit the assessment process. A CV allows you to outline both your academic studies (detailing the major focus of your studies including providing details of any major projects taken on as a part of course requirements) as well as describing your career/employment history in your own words.
