CIOB Chartered Membership Benefits

CIOB provides two Chartered grades. The first one is Fellow, and the second is Member. If you are a current student, then there is also a Non-Chartered grade available for you. Let’s know about each one of them for a better understanding.

Member (MCIOB):

The Chartered Membership grade (MCIOB) comes with many benefits. The biggest benefit is to use MCIOB as post-nominal designation. One can also choose between the descriptor of Chartered Construction Manager and Chartered Builder. As a Chartered Member, you can vote and apply to be a Trustee. It will enable you to actively take part in the management of the CIOB.

Fellow (FCIOB):

This grade is the highest award that the CIOB offers. CIOB’s Fellows are amongst the most knowledgeable and experienced professionals in the construction industry. These professionals are recognized worldwide for their skills and attainments throughout their careers.

Besides that, the related post-nominal, FCIOB, is highly respected and in high demand.

Non-Chartered Grade (Applicant):

The non-chartered grade of Applicant is an entry point for those who don’t hold an existing ACIOB/ICIOB membership and want to become Chartered. You need to fulfill the eligibility requirements and be admitted to this grade to take your next steps to become Chartered.

This grade doesn’t provide any entitlement to post-nominal or designations. However, by progressing through the most appropriate way to membership, you can attain your Chartered Membership and take the benefits of being MCIOB.

CIOB Membership benefits:

Raise your status:

Becoming a Chartered member will allow you to add MCIOB after your name. This post-nominal has global recognition. It means your clients and colleagues will consider you someone with high skills and tremendous knowledge to complete the job.

Besides that, this membership is equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree, and global recognition.

Explore CIOB Library:

CIOB library has an impressive collection of construction-related online journals and e-books. These materials are accessible to all members. Thus, you will be able to expand your knowledge and get a deep understanding of a variety of topics in construction.

In addition to that, CIOB regularly produces Technical Publications, including guides, codes and information sheets to help you know more.

CPD to improve your skills:

CPD or Continuing Professional Development is all about staying updated with the latest development and increasing your knowledge and improving your skills. All CIOB members have to complete CPD, and CIOB makes this as easy as possible by giving its members a wide range of CPD resources.

CIOB’s magazines are another way to engage with what’s happening in the industry. Construction Management Magazine is sent out to all members, so you can ensure that you are always updated.

CIOB Mentoring Service:

One of the best ways to support others in the community is by means of CIOB’s Mentoring Service. Becoming a Mentor means that you can help someone to become a Chartered Member or Fellow. Alternatively, many of CIOB’s membership pathways have mentoring attached. It means you can be mentored yourself and get on your way to CIOB Membership or Fellowship.

Professional Review processing time:

From the date of receiving the receipt of your application and payment, you can expect the CIOB Professional Review process to take nearly 8 to 12 weeks. It may take some more time if any information or document is missing from your submitted documents.
